From Youth to Families: An Event on Employment and Economic Resilience of Communities to Take Place in Kamianets-Podilskyi
On October 22, the Platform for Social Change invites employers, representatives of local communities, educational institutions, civil society organizations, and people seeking employment opportunities to join an event in Kamianets-Podilskyi. Together, we will explore how to help young people and families affected by the war find employment, develop new professional skills, and secure a stable income.
The war has significantly affected the economic well-being of Ukrainian families. Many people have been forced to relocate, lost their jobs, or faced new circumstances that make finding employment more difficult.
These challenges are particularly acute for internally displaced persons (IDPs), military families, people with disabilities, women raising children on their own, and those caring for family members.
At the same time, local businesses need employees, educational institutions offer vocational training opportunities, and civil society organizations and social services help people overcome difficult life circumstances.
How can we connect these opportunities so that people can find employment, receive the support they need, and secure a stable income?
This question will be at the heart of “From Youth to Families: Economic Resilience of Communities During Wartime,” an event organized by the Platform for Social Change as part of its “Space for Collaboration” event series.
What Will We Discuss?
The event will bring together representatives of businesses, educational institutions, local authorities, employment services, civil society organizations, and people who directly experience barriers to employment.
Participants will explore:
- Employment opportunities. What skills and qualifications are local employers looking for, and which professions are currently in demand?
- Education and reskilling. How can we help people acquire new professional skills or adapt their existing qualifications to labor market needs?
- Support for vulnerable families. What barriers prevent people from finding suitable employment, even when they are willing and able to work?
- Youth employment and entrepreneurship. What existing practices help young people gain professional experience, launch their own initiatives, and contribute to local economic development?
- Collaboration between organizations. How can employers, educational institutions, local communities, and civil society organizations work together to create new employment opportunities?
Special attention will be given to practical solutions, including internships, vocational training, self-employment support, and assistance in helping people achieve stable incomes.
Who Should Attend?
We invite:
- Employers and business representatives looking for employees, interested in developing a skilled workforce, or willing to offer internship opportunities.
- Representatives of vocational education institutions and training centers providing professional education, short-term courses, and reskilling programs.
- Representatives of local communities, local authorities, and employment services working on local economic development, employment, and social support.
- Civil society organizations, charities, and social services supporting internally displaced persons, veterans, military families, and other vulnerable groups.
- Youth and entrepreneurship initiatives interested in strengthening local economies and creating new opportunities within communities.
- People seeking employment or training opportunities, particularly internally displaced women, single mothers, women from military families, women with disabilities, and those balancing employment with caregiving responsibilities.
You do not need to represent an organization or have entrepreneurial experience to participate. The personal experiences, needs, and perspectives of people seeking economic independence are equally important.
What Can Participants Expect?
The event will go beyond traditional presentations, offering opportunities for collaborative work, knowledge exchange, and the development of practical solutions.
Participants will have the opportunity to:
- Connect with local employers, educational institutions, and support organizations.
- Learn about current labor market needs and professional development opportunities.
- Share their own experiences, needs, and ideas.
- Identify potential partners for joint initiatives.
- Contribute to developing practical solutions that improve employment opportunities in local communities.
We expect the event to result in concrete commitments between employers, educational institutions, local authorities, and support organizations to expand opportunities for training, internships, employment, and ongoing assistance.
