On September 12, in Kamianets-Podilskyi, the Platform for Social Change held the first roundtable within the framework of the international project CAPABLE, implemented under the Interreg Europe program.

The event focused on diagnosing competencies, mapping resources, and auditing the social care system. It took place in the format of discussions and group work, which allowed participants to combine the experience of different sectors and shape a shared vision for the development of the field.

The purpose of the roundtable was to:

  • assess the current state of the social care system for the elderly in communities;

  • identify resources and initiatives in the field of training social workers and providing services;

  • determine key needs in professional development and the creation of new care models;

  • formulate proposals for further work within the CAPABLE project.

The event was attended by representatives of educational institutions, heads of territorial centers and social service centers, social work specialists, representatives of local self-government bodies, as well as civil society and charitable organizations.

The CAPABLE project aims to improve the social care system for older people, drawing on European practices and adapting them to Ukrainian communities. It covers five areas: updating local policies, introducing a new qualification and training system for professionals, increasing the attractiveness of the profession, supporting service providers in improving quality, and aligning training for mobility within the EU.

This roundtable became the starting point for the work in Khmelnytskyi region. The following events will help deepen the dialogue and jointly develop solutions for a high-quality and sustainable social care system.

This project is supported by the Interreg Europe program, co-financed by the European Union.
