On February 27, an Idea and Solution Hackathon will take place in Kamianets-Podilskyi on the topic
“Professional Pathways in 60+ Care: from Education and Practice to Employment in Communities.”

The event focuses on one of the least discussed yet critically important issues for communities — workforce solutions in the care sector for people aged 60+. Demand for qualified care professionals is already high and continues to grow, while entry pathways into the profession often remain fragmented, unclear, and poorly structured.

The care sector requires not only motivation, but also systemic solutions: structured training, validation of competencies, practical experience, and real employment opportunities at the community level. Without these elements, it is difficult to ensure the sustainability of services and to retain people in the profession.

The goal of the hackathon is to explore the entire professional pathway in 60+ care together with key stakeholders:

  • where and how people receive training;
  • where they gain practical experience;
  • how they find jobs in communities and what helps them stay in the profession.

During the meeting, participants will discuss which specialists are most needed by communities, the barriers that currently hinder recruitment and staff retention, and jointly shape the demand for education and practical training of professionals. Special attention will be given to aligning next steps and forming working teams for further collaboration within the Social Services Accelerator.

The hackathon is open to representatives of educational institutions, local communities, social service providers, employment centers, social businesses, civil society organizations, and all stakeholders involved in workforce solutions in the 60+ care sector in the Khmelnytskyi region.
