In ministry, we strive to be faithful to God\u2019s calling. We pray, we listen, we act. But in a rapidly changing world, sometimes that is not enough. Today, it\u2019s not only important to serve \u2014 but to serve wisely, responsibly, and with a vision for the future.<\/p>\n
Just as Easter renews our understanding of life and gives it new meaning, a strategy can become a new way of seeing the development of a community \u2014 not as an external obligation, but as an internal step toward a deeper understanding of our calling. It is not merely a planning tool, but a form of spiritual and organisational responsibility. A way to live out our calling \u2014 consciously, today and tomorrow.<\/p>\n
Jesus often spoke about prudence: \u201cSuppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won\u2019t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it?\u201d<\/em> (Luke 14:28)<\/p>\n Planning is not a sign of distrust in God\u2019s grace. It is a way to be faithful stewards of the gifts entrusted to us: people, time, resources, community. It is also a way to pause and ask ourselves: It all begins with prayer, listening, and an honest look at the present. Strategy is the bridge between where we are today and where God is calling us in the future. It allows us to pause, see clearly, weigh our choices, and act in light of our mission.<\/p>\n A religious community is a living organism. If we neglect its vitality, we avoid responsibility. As good stewards, we are called to multiply the gifts entrusted to us. A strategy is a response to the question: \u201cWhat are we doing with what we\u2019ve been given?\u201d<\/em> Without a clear vision, it\u2019s easy to fall into survival mode instead of conscious ministry.<\/p>\n We celebrate the Resurrection, but we must also live as those who have risen \u2014 with faith expressed through action, openness to change, and responsibility before the community.<\/p>\n Today\u2019s religious communities face difficult but inevitable questions:<\/p>\n How can we engage young people and invite them into the community?<\/p>\n<\/li>\n How can we serve modern society without losing our spiritual identity?<\/p>\n<\/li>\n How can we ensure financial sustainability without turning into a commercial structure?<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n No strategy provides all the answers at once. But it allows us to ask the right questions, choose a direction together, and move forward with unity and trust.<\/p>\n Youth-focused orientation<\/strong> Financial sustainability through partnerships<\/strong> In each case, strategy became a tool to fulfill God\u2019s calling in new circumstances.<\/p>\n It\u2019s a plan of action agreed upon within the community, answering three key questions:<\/p>\n Who are we?<\/strong> \u2014 our mission and calling.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Where are we going?<\/strong> \u2014 our vision for the future: what our ministry will look like in 5\u201310 years.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n How will we get there?<\/strong> \u2014 concrete steps, resources, responsibilities, and indicators of success.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n These three levels \u2014 spiritual, visionary, and practical \u2014 must be in harmony. Strategy doesn\u2019t replace grace. It helps grace act through order, discipline, and intentional decisions.<\/p>\n Clarity of calling.<\/strong> Strategy helps us stay focused on what is truly ours.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Ability to act in crisis.<\/strong> Declining vocations, new needs among the faithful, societal changes \u2014 all of these demand foresight.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Unity in the community.<\/strong> A shared vision and agreed-upon plan reduce misunderstandings and build internal cohesion.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Sustainability of ministry.<\/strong> Resource planning, financial strategy, and evaluation of results are essential to keep the mission alive and vibrant.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Monastic life is a path of faith. But faith does not exclude prudence. Just as a good sower prepares the soil, we must prepare the community for a new season of ministry. Strategy is our way of showing that we are ready to embrace challenges while remaining faithful to our mission.<\/p>\n Perhaps your community is now sensing a call to renewal. Perhaps you are facing difficult decisions. During the Easter season, we feel especially that life is not only a gift but also a task. Resurrection is the beginning of a new path.
